Incredible season for Ashmount Leigh

Ashmount Leigh can look back on an incredible season where they won 20 of their 21 league matches, with 120 goals scored and just 19 conceded, as they won the Surrey Premier Division in the South East Counties League, as well as the League Cup.

Ashmount Leigh are managed by Conor Hack, with Lex McGowan, Char Barnham and Laura Elliott as Coaches. Lisa Richards captains the side and top goalscorer for the season was Emily Robinson with 17 goals to her name, whilst six players in all hit double figures for the season.

Special mentions are given to centre back Holly Walker, who brought an added composure when playing out from the back, dominated all her aerial duels all over the pitch and managed in any one-v-one battles comfortably. Harri Underwood, playing a defensive midfield role in the centre, constantly breaks up play and finds the simple pass to retain possession - a massively underrated position in the game. Rosanne Fine meanwhile is the relentless and most selfless centre forward, while she bagged 15 goals herself, she works tirelessly to set up her team mates, and also works as hard of out possession.

A major highlight of the season came with a 4-0 victory over Sutton United reserves in the League Cup Final. An incredible day for the club, there were over 300 supporters on the day. The team was immense, dealt with the pockets of pressure really well, scored four very different types of goal, and across the team everybody committed to the game plan and ended up comfortably winning the final.

Between 22 January and 23 April, the team went on a ten game streak where they conceded only once. This run included a 1-0 win away to eventual runners-up Croydon CWFC. This was a massively competitive game that only had one shot on target all game, which ended up being the winner. This win was the moment that the team realised they could win the league as long as we performed and completed correctly in the remaining games.
