Wales to play Poland friendly

Rhian Wilkinson’s Wales will face Poland in Newport in October, which will mark the side’s first return to Rodney Parade

in front of a crowd since 2019.

The match will take place on Tuesday 28 October, with a 7.45pm kick off time. Poland are ranked 26th in the world and both teams

featured in their first ever major tournament at this summer’s UEFA EURO finals.

March 2016 was the last time the two sides faced each other in a 1-1 draw in an international friendly match in Paralimni. Helen Ward was the goal scorer for Wales.

The last time Wales played at Rodney Parade in front of a crowd was in September 2019 against Northern Ireland during the Women’s EURO 2021 qualifiers. Wales have since played at Rodney Parade but due to the COVID-19 pandemic these matches were played behind closed doors.

The match will be the second fixture of the October international window, where Rhian Wilkinson’s side will also face Australia at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 25 October.

Ticket information will be released in due course.
