Uni changes name to Pure Swansea

Genero Adran South club Swansea University FC has officially rebranded as Pure Swansea FC ahead of the 2025-26 season, marking a significant milestone in the club’s evolution.

The name change, approved by the FAW National Leagues Board in late June, takes effect immediately and signals ambitious plans for the future.

Jack Midwinter, Pure Swansea FC’s Head of Football, described the rebrand as a transformative step forward. “This isn’t just a change of name – it’s the start of a bold new venture that allows us to build on the club’s already rich history, while embracing the ambition and infrastructure needed to take us to the next level,” Midwinter told the Genero Adran Leagues website. “Swansea University FC has always been a club built on identity, unity, and development – values that will remain firmly at the heart of Pure Swansea FC.”

Midwinter emphasized the club’s commitment to its legacy of nurturing talent and competing at a high level while outlining a vision for growth. “Over the next 2-3 years, our focus will be on strengthening our pathways, building a more professional environment, and enhancing the club’s visibility both on and off the pitch,” he added. “We want Pure Swansea FC to be a place where players develop, staff thrive, and our community feels connected and proud.”

The rebrand coincides with a strategic takeover by the Pure Swansea Sports Complex, which acquired the team from Swansea University. Kurtis March, Operations Manager at the complex, hailed the move as a natural fit. “We are delighted to be able to takeover the team from Swansea University, as we believe it to be an extremely exciting opportunity and aligns with our mantra of supporting grassroots football,” March said. “With an ever-growing academy of over 200 children, we now have the opportunity to create progression to Welsh League football for these children, generating a successful and positive pathway for our academy.”

March also underscored the focus on the upcoming season, working closely with Midwinter to lay the groundwork for success. “We’re excited for what lies ahead and are committed to building something special for the local football community,” he added.

As Pure Swansea FC embarks on this new era, the club aims to raise standards and strengthen its connection with fans, players, and the wider Swansea community. With a clear vision and a nod to its storied past, Pure Swansea FC is poised to make waves in the Genero Adran South and beyond.
