UEFA Women’s Champions League

Barcelona 4 Olympique Lyonnais 0

Barcelona claimed their fourth UEFA Women's Champions League title in six seasons with a commanding 4-0 victory over Lyon in the final in Oslo.

Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo each scored twice in a dominant second half display that saw the Spanish side emphatically return to the pinnacle of European women's football after having been beaten 1-0 in the Final by Arsenal a year ago.

Pajor opened the scoring in the 55th minute, latching onto a precise pass from Patri Guijarro before steering a low left footed finish past Lyon goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

The Poland international - beaten at this stage in her four previous appearances with Wolfsburg and Barcelona - doubled Barcelona's advantage fourteen minutes later, tapping home a cross from Paralluelo to put Pere Romeu's team firmly in control. Paralluelo then produced a thunderous strike from outside the box in the 90th minute to make it 3-0, before Pajor turned provider in added time, setting up the Spain winger for her second goal of the evening and sealing a convincing win.

The result marked a strong recovery for Barcelona following last season's surprise defeat by Arsenal in the Lisbon final. However, the match was not without early drama. Lyon threatened inside the opening 15 minutes when captain Wendie Renard, left unmarked, forced a save from Cata Coll, with Lindsey Heaps turning the rebound into the net. The goal however was correctly disallowed for offside after a VAR review.

Endler was later caught out of position as she rushed off her line, allowing Pajor to lift an effort over her, though the striker's attempt drifted wide. Coll was called upon again before half time to parry away a dangerous free kick from Selma Bacha. The Barcelona goalkeeper also produced important stops to deny Vicki Becho's low drive and Tabitha Chawinga in a one-on-one situation.

Pajor's brace took her tournament tally to 11 goals, seeing her finish as top scorer ahead of Arsenal's Alessia Russo. The late double from Paralluelo gave the scoreline a somewhat flattering look, but there was no doubt about Barcelona's superiority on the night as they lifted the trophy once more.
