Farnham Town 7 Croydon Women 1
Farnham Town clinched the Surrey Premier Division of the South East Counties League with a stylish 7-
Town's fourteenth win of the season was never in doubt from the moment Kaitlin Howard gave them a 23rd minute lead, after Croydon keeper Emilia Blyth had saved Francesca Thornton's shot.
Two more goals came soon after, via Emily Foss and Efro Theocharous with fine finishes from distance.
Croydon's leading scorer Jade Asagba soon reduced the deficit with a powerful run and close range finish after Emma Stait had saved the initial effort.
Howard added the fourth right on the break with another good strike to ensure that the second half would be a fairly relaxed stroll to the title in the scorching heat.
To both teams credit, the second half was committed and entertaining with Farnham relentless in attack and Croydon resolute in defence. Further goals came from Foss with her trademark short corner routine, Laura Comerford with a run and shot from the narrowest of angles and finally skipper Anya Kinnane, with a towering header from a Thornton free kick on 78 minutes.
The final whistle saw the start of celebrations and award presentations for a superb debut season. The epic Cup battles with London Bees and Brentford suggest that this group of players and coaching staff will rise quickly up the Pyramid if they maintain the standards of their first season.
