ScottishGas Women’s Scottish Cup draw

The draw for the Third Round of the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup was held at Barclays Hampden, with Scottish Thistles Netball star Niamh McCall pulling the numbers.

SWPL 1&2 sides entered the hat at this stage of the competition, along with the victorious sides from the weekend's Second Round results.

Following the draw, Niamh reflected on being part of Glasgow's Commonwealth Games amidst a successful competition for the Thistles.

"It was incredible. Nothing can beat a home crowd and we had some thrilling games, especially ones against like Wales, which has always been a really tough game, but we did exceptionally well there. To come so close against fourth in the world Jamaica was incredible and I don't think I've been a part of a game that's been that loud. That was one of the loudest events across Commonwealth Games!

"I remember going to the Commonwealth Games in 2014 in Glasgow and I remember watching a game and thinking 'oh, my word, these girls are phenomenal'. To think now, what, 12 years later, that was now me. Hopefully one day a girl in that crowd is going to be a Thistle or a footballer –  it doesn't really matter what sport, as long as they get up and do something active."

Looking ahead to the Summer of 2027, Niamh spoke about the upcoming World Cup in Australia: "We're so excited! Netball in Scotland just keeps on growing and we keep showing that through our performances. So hopefully by August next year we are thriving and we just hit the ground running."
