ScottishGas Women’s Scottish Cup draw

Twenty four teams will battle it out next month for a place in the next stage of the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup.

Twelve sides progressed from the final preliminary round last weekend and entered tonight’s draw alongside twelve SWF League One sides who will compete from Round One. The first round ties will be played on Sunday, 5 October.

SWF Championship sides will enter the competition in round two before SWPL 1 and SWPL 2 teams enter the fray in round three.

Conducting the draw from Hampden Park this evening was Celtic and Scotland international, Emma Lawton, alongside host Gordon Duncan. The full back has had a whirlwind 18 months, going from part-time football at Partick Thistle, to signing with Celtic last September, making her full Scotland debut in February and being named PFA Scotland Player of The Year.

Reflecting on the last twelve months, Emma said: “It’s honestly been life changing for me. Becoming a professional footballer was always my dream so to have done that on top of everything else that I’ve achieved has been surreal but I’m loving every minute.

“In my first season with Celtic I just tried to take everything one game at a time but when we finished up in the summer, I used that as a bit of time to reflect. I definitely did get a bit emotional as it has been a really big year and a lot has happened. I’m taking everything in my stride now and really excited for what the future holds.”

The 24-year-old made her senior Scotland debut in February this year and is looking forward to a new era under Melissa Andreatta: “It was a disappointing Nations League campaign but it’s a fresh start now and we’ve a lot to look forward to with the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers next year and the new manager.

“There’s a really positive feeling around the group and we just really want to make sure we’re back at a major tournament in 2027.”

It’s been two years since Celtic got their hands on the Women’s Scottish Cup after back-to-back success in 2021/22 and 2022/23, the defender said: “We were all disappointed last season not to come away with any silverware, so we want to put that right this year.

“The Scottish Cup is one of the most important competitions for us. I think it’s one that most teams look forward to every season, so it means a lot to have a good cup run.

"We really want to get back to winning that trophy this season, not just for us but for the fans as well, they deserve it. Celtic is such a big club, and we should be winning trophies so hopefully we can get back to that this season.”
