Scotland delivered a ruthless performance at Hampden Park on Saturday, thrashing Luxembourg 7-
Kathleen McGovern struck twice early on, with Jenna Clark adding a brace, while Lauren Davidson, Emma Lawton and Maria McAneny rounded off the scoring in a dominant display by Melissa Andreatta's side.Team news
Head coach Melissa Andreatta made two changes from the team that won 5-
The hosts made a blistering start, taking the lead after just 43 seconds. From kick off, Scotland overloaded the Luxembourg half, and Caroline Weir turned smartly before threading a precise pass through for McGovern, who slotted calmly past Lucie Schlime.
Scotland maintained control, and Charlotte Newsham came close to her maiden international goal. Erin Cuthbert drove down the left and chipped towards the back post with Schlime off her line, but Amal Cherkane cleared off the line at point blank range, conceding a corner. From the resulting set piece, Weir's inswinging delivery caused chaos and Jenna Clark bundled home in the tenth minute to make it 2-
The pressure continued, with efforts from McGovern and Maria McAneny comfortably held by Schlime. Just before the half hour, Cuthbert intercepted a loose pass from Kimberley Dos Santos and crossed for Weir, whose shot was brilliantly saved.
Scotland's third arrived moments later in the 31st minute. Neat interplay involving Newsham, McAneny and Weir ended with the ball at McGovern's feet, and she fired past Schlime for her second of the afternoon. Kirsty Hanson nearly added a fourth before the break, connecting with a deflected Miri Taylor effort, but her shot flew past the post.
The second half began scrappily, but Scotland soon reasserted dominance. McGovern spurned a chance for her hat-
Luxembourg's first opportunity arrived around the hour mark when captain Laura Miller won possession high up and fed substitute Charlie Jorge, but her shot went wide of Sandy MacIver.
Scotland added a fifth with under fifteen minutes remaining. Substitute Leah Eddie, moments after entering the fray, delivered a first time cross that caught Schlime off guard, allowing Lauren Davidson to sweep home. The sixth came in the 89th minute through an audacious piece of skill from Emma Lawton. The full back won a corner after outpacing Cherkane, and from Weir's delivery, Lawton backheeled the ball off defenders and into the roof of the net.
In stoppage time, McAneny headed wide from a Freya Gregory run, but she made amends almost immediately, curling a fine finish inside the far post from Lawton's cut back to complete the rout in the fourth minute of added time.
