Scottish Women’s Premier League

Rangers came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at league leaders Glasgow City's Petershill Park.

Early chances saw Lee Gibson deny Calliste Brookshire one-on-one after intercepting a loose pass from Emma Brownlie, while Jenna Fife blocked Nicole Kozlova's close range effort at the other end. City took the lead when Laura Rafferty turned Lisa Forrest's low cross into her own net. Laura Berry thought she had equalised on the stroke of half time, but the offside flag was raised. Gibson produced a stunning stretch save to keep out Berry's lofted shot, and Fife denied Motlhalo and Kozlova. The breakthrough came with just over five minutes left as Brookshire's looping effort dipped over Gibson and into the net, earning Rangers a hard fought point.

The result allowed Celtic to leapfrog Rangers into second with a narrow 1-0 victory over a stubborn Montrose side. Maria McAneny's 60th minute strike proved decisive for Grant Scott's side, securing three wins from three since his arrival. Montrose, who have taken points off champions Hibs earlier in the season, fought hard but couldn't prevent Celtic from closing the gap to five points behind Glasgow City, with Rangers now two points adrift in third.

Hearts kept the pressure on the top three with a 4-0 home win over Partick Thistle at Oriam. Despite eight first half shots (four on target), the breakthrough came two minutes into the second period when Georgia Timms cut back for Carly Johns to fire home from close range. Sade Adamolekun doubled the lead with twenty minutes remaining, Timms added a third, and Monica Forsyth completed the scoring in injury time. The victory leaves Hearts fourth but just a point behind Rangers and with a game in hand.

Hibernian recorded Joelle Murray's first win as head coach with a dominant 5-0 triumph over bottom side Hamilton

Academical at Meadowbank Stadium. Ciara Grant opened the scoring after nine minutes, with Eilidh Adams and

Rachael Boyle making it 3-0 by half time. Adams grabbed her second after the break, and Rosie Livingstone rounded off the rout. Hamilton remain rock bottom with one point from 15 games and no wins, while Hibs stay fifth and keep the pressure on those above.

Aberdeen edged closer to safety with a 2-1 win over Motherwell at Balmoral Stadium. Captain Hannah Stewart struck first after hitting the bar and converting the rebound. Carla Boyce levelled early in the second half, but Mya Christie smashed in from range in the 85th minute to secure the points for Scott Booth's side. Aberdeen sit second bottom but now only a point behind Motherwell.

Wednesday night action saw Hearts produce a stunning 7-1 thrashing of Montrose at Links Park to climb up to third, level on points with Celtic and five behind Glasgow City. Georgia Timms opened the scoring after four minutes, Monica Forsyth added two more inside the first sixteen, Carly Johns netted a double and Sade Adamolekun struck within a three-goal burst just after the hour. Kaela McDonald-Nguah grabbed a consolation for the hosts before Bayley Hutchison completed the victory.

The top of the table clash went the way of leaders Kilmarnock, who extended their advantage to a huge thirteen points when Georgina McTear’s second half strike earned them a 1-0 victory against Spartans at Rugby Park. Spartans had started the day in second place but find themselves back in fourth with two teams having taken advantage to move above them. Boroughmuir Thistle now head the chasing pack after Ami Robertson, Lucy Cameron, Lucy Livie and Lauren Hall firing them to a 4-0 success away to Stirling University, with Queen’s Park just behind them on goal difference after they defeated Dundee United 2-1. All of the goals came during the first half, Sophie Rutherford and Summer Thomson were on target for the Spiders, with Danni Findlay replying. Gartcairn Women cemented themselves in mid-table by running out 4-1 winners over St Johnstone. Rebecca Brady, Georgie Robb, Rebecca Simpson and Clare Docherty were all on the scoresheet for Cairn, whilst Saints’ consolation came from Lila Aitchison. Livingston meanwhile notched up their third victory of the season when they netted five times without reply past East Fife, with Justine Strain, Jessica Murphy, Seren McCulloch and Shivohn Honeyman accounting for the goals after an own goal had given them the lead.
