Scottish Women’s Premier League

Glasgow City's advantage at the summit of the Scottish Women's Premier League was reduced to four points after they were held to a goalless draw by Hibernian at Petershill Park.

Both sides created opportunities across the 90 minutes, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough. Goalkeepers Lee Gibson and Noa Schumacher produced a string of vital saves to preserve their respective clean sheets. The result sees Hibs drop to fourth place, overtaken by Rangers, while Hearts took full advantage elsewhere to cut City's lead at the top.

Hearts maintained intense pressure on leaders Glasgow City with a comprehensive 8-1 victory over bottom side Hamilton Academical at the Oriam. Kayla Jardine opened the scoring before Georgia Timms struck twice in three minutes – one from the penalty spot – to put Eva Olid's side 3-0 ahead inside half an hour. Josie Giard pulled one back for Accies before the interval, but Hearts remained in complete control.

Jenna Slattery restarted the rout in the 69th minute, with Keri Halliday and Bayley Hutchison adding further goals before Timms completed her hat-trick with ten minutes remaining. Hutchison then grabbed her second in stoppage time to round off an emphatic win. The result leaves Hearts four points behind Glasgow City, while Hamilton remain

rooted to the bottom without a point to their name.

Celtic kept pace with the leading pack courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Partick Thistle. Amy Gallacher broke the deadlock after 26 minutes, converting Lisa Robertson's delivery past Jeni Currie. Maria McAneny doubled the advantage four minutes later, tucking home the rebound after her initial effort had been saved. The win keeps Celtic firmly in touch with the top four, while Thistle stay just one point clear of Aberdeen, who occupy the relegation play-off position.

Rangers leapfrogged Hibernian into third place with a 3-0 win at Motherwell in what proved to be Paul Brownlie's final match in charge of the home side. Katie Wilkinson gave Rangers an early lead after nine minutes at K-Park. Motherwell held firm until the 67th minute when Quinty Sabajo's first-time finish made it 2-0, and Laura Berry added a third soon afterwards. The victory moves Rangers to within seven points of leaders Glasgow City and condemns Motherwell to a drop below Montrose in the standings.

Montrose pulled six points clear of the relegation play-off spot with a hard fought 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Balmoral Stadium. Mya Christie put the hosts ahead on 28 minutes, only for Kaela McDonald-Nguah to equalise almost immediately following a defensive error. Louise Brown then gave Montrose the lead ten minutes before half time with what proved to be the winner. Aberdeen remain seven points above bottom club Hamilton Academical, but the defeat leaves them looking anxiously over their shoulders.

Kilmarnock further extended their lead to ten points as they slammed St Johnstone 7-2 at McDiarmid Park. Abby Robinson led the scoring for Killie with a hat-trick and others came from Georgina McTear, Cara Gray, Laura McLaughlin and Kaitlyn Canavan whilst the home side replied through Elvie McLean and Jodie Malcolm. Boroughmuir Thistle have replaced Spartans in second place after winning their meeting 1-0, Holly Aitchison scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot with sixteen minutes remaining. Queen’s Park follow on in fourth, Rosie McQuillan hitting a hat-trick and Oluwadara Ositelu the other as the Spiders won 4-2 at Gartcairn Women, whose scorers were Morgan Anderson and Georgie Robb. Dundee Utd netted seven times without reply past East Fife, Lyla Marnie bagging a brace with others from Alma Codegoni, Callie Bowman, Maisy Stewart, Robyn Smith and Alix Moodie, whilst a Justine Strain hat-trick, Megan Whiteford, Seren McCulloch and Rachel Walkingshaw fired Livingston to a 6-0 victory over Stirling University.
