Dryburgh move into top half

Dryburgh Athletic have moved into the top half of the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship with an impressive 3-1 home win against Stenhousemuir.

A first half brace in quick succession from Emily Arthur was answered on 75 minutes as Stenny defender Rachel Vickerman rose to nod home a corner. But Dryburgh’s Rachel Robbie converted a late penalty to ensure the Dundee side move level in points with the visitors in the Championship table.

A late goal from Vhairi Munro for Falkirk against Bonnyrigg Rose was enough to keep the Bairns top of the table, while Forfar Farmington remain three points behind after their 3-0 win against at Station Park.

In the battle of the bottom two, Armadale Thistle recorded their first victory of the campaign in some style, beating Glasgow Girls 12-0, while Rossvale came away from Morton with a 2-1 victory and Renfrew beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-1 in the Highlands.

Barclays Scottish Women’s League One leaders Queen of the South came from behind to beat St Mirren in Dumfries, Charlotte Bryden stroking a late free kick into the top corner which left Buddies’ keeper Russell with no chance, to secure a 3-2 victory for Queens and stay top of the table.

Inverurie Locos and Westdyke played out the division’s first goalless draw since early March, which allowed Airdrie to move into second place with an 11-0 demolition of Hutchison Vale in Edinburgh.

Cambusdoon picked up three points in Fife, holding off an attempted comeback from Glenrothes Strollers to win 4-3, and Dunipace did the same with the same scoreline in Elgin. Lily Morrison hit a hat-trick for the home side to set up a nervy finish, but Dunipace held on for the three points.
