Miedema on way back following operation

Manchester City striker Vivianne Miedema has undergone an operation on a knee injury after playing, and scoring, in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final.

The club has issued the following statement on its official website:

“Manchester City can confirm that Vivianne Miedema has undergone a successful knee operation.

The Dutch international will now work closely with the Club’s medical team over the summer, with a view to return with the squad for pre-season ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

City go into the new season looking to build on a WSL and FA Cup double, alongside a return to UEFA Champions League football.

Miedema was crucial to last season’s success, grabbing 14 goals and five assists across all competitions, including our final strike in a 4-0 FA Cup final win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

But now, following a successful operation, the WSL and Netherlands’ record scorer is aiming for a swift return in the build-up to 2026-27.

Everyone at City is looking forward to seeing Viv back on the pitch and would like to wish her the very best in her recovery.”
