MK Dons appoint first full time Head Coach

Milton Keynes Dons are thrilled to announce the appointment of Stephen Healy as Women's Head Coach.

This is a significant appointment for MK Dons Women, who this season will be integrated into club operations for the first time.

Healy joins the Dons from WSL side West Ham United and becomes the first Women's Head Coach to be appointed at the club on a full time basis. As well as being a First Team Coach at the Hammers, Healy has previously worked for Leicester City as International Academy Head Coach, developing young players to maximise their potential.

With over 20 years of experience working in football, Healy has also coached for the FA, Northampton Town Women and New York Red Bulls.

Healy joins the Dons with the full support of the club to deliver a new and exciting women's set-up in Milton Keynes. The new Head Coach will start on Tuesday 1st July following the end of his contract with West Ham United on Monday 30th June.

The players also return for pre-season training on Tuesday, giving Healy the chance to assess the squad before looking at developmental opportunities for current players.

There will also be the opportunity to recruit new talent as MK Dons Women prepare for the 2025-26 season in the FA Women's National League Division One South East.

On joining MK Dons Women, Head Coach Stephen Healy told the MK Dons official website: "I'm absolutely delighted to be joining the football club at such a pivotal moment. I'd like to sincerely thank the Chairman and the Board of Directors for the faith they've shown in me, as well as Neil Hart and Simon Crampton, who've been absolutely brilliant. This really does feel like a fresh start for MK Dons Women. I'm excited to lend my experience to a young team with so much potential. As a Milton Keynes resident for over a decade, I'm so grateful to be given this opportunity, and I can't wait to get started next week."

On appointing Stephen Healy, CEO Neil Hart said: "As we integrate MK Dons Women into club operations, appointing the right Head Coach was extremely important. We're thrilled Stephen has agreed to join us. His experience working in women's football is extensive, including at the highest level. I'm confident he will help to establish an elite environment which our players will benefit from for years to come. We truly are one club, and are all so excited about what this season looks like for MK Dons Women."

On the future of MK Dons Women, Football Operations Director Simon Crampton said: "Stephen was the outstanding candidate for the role and seriously impressed us with his knowledge and experience, as well as his strategic planning for what the women's set up will look like. As we enter a new era for our women's team under the club's umbrella, having a full time coach with experience at the highest level was absolutely essential. I'm looking forward to working with him closely this season."
