Genero Adran Leagues
Cardiff City solidified their position at the top of the Genero Adran Premier with a commanding 3-0 victory over rivals Swansea City at Cardiff City Stadium, which came courtesy of three first half goals.
The Bluebirds wasted no time, taking the lead after just three minutes when Mackenzie Olden tapped in following Mikayla Cook’s saved effort. Cook earned a penalty in the 26th minute after being fouled by Maddy Murray, which Laura Curnock converted with ease. Cook capped a stellar first half by smashing Olden’s cross into the top corner in the 33rd minute. Cardiff comfortably defended their lead in the second half, securing a third straight win.
Barry Town United celebrated their first win of the season, overcoming Aberystwyth Town 3-2 at Park Avenue. Ellie Preece struck twice in the opening 23 minutes to put Barry in command, but Aberystwyth fought back after the break with an own goal from Ellie Gunney and a header from Sian Evans off Carys Bufton’s free kick. Substitute Keira Harris sealed the win for Barry in the 81st minute, latching onto Sienna Stone’s long ball to fire past Sophie Steele.
Wrexham returned to form with a resounding 6-1 win over Pontypridd United at The Globe. An own goal from Ponty’s Faye Marshall gave Wrexham an early lead, but a bizarre own goal by Wrexham’s Josie Smith levelled matters. Abbie Iddenden restored Wrexham’s advantage, followed by Katie Barker’s tap in before half time. Mariam Mahmood and Iddenden added second half goals, with Mahmood’s stoppage time stunner completing her brace and lifting Wrexham to second in the table.
Briton Ferry Llansawel continued their improving form with a 3-1 victory over The New Saints at The Renewable Centre Stadium. Ashley Griffiths headed in Megan Kearle’s corner to open the scoring, but Caitlin Chapman equalised for TNS. Ferry regained the lead through Maia Owen’s strike from Lucy Powell’s corner and substitute Grace Evans sealed the win in the 70th minute with a composed finish.
Genero Adran North
Bangor kicked off the Genero Adran North season with a 5-1 beating of newly promoted Berriew at Bangor City Stadium. Ashleigh Jones scored before half time and Tesni Hughes doubled the lead early in the second half. Dottie Evans pulled one back for Berriew, but Seren McDonald and late goals from Ffion Thomas (penalty) and Ella Jones ensured a comprehensive victory for Bangor. Llanfair United began their campaign with a 3-2 win over Felinheli at Cae Seilo. Sophie Cook’s quickfire double in the second half put Llanfair in control, with Harriet Davies adding a third. Shannon Jade Jones and Jenna Tugwell-Allsup scored for Felinheli, but Llanfair held on despite manager Aaron Jones-Evans’ late red card. Flint Town United and Llandudno played out a 1-1 draw at the Essity Stadium. Rosie Hughes’ volley gave Flint the lead, but Hannah Owen’s close range header from Seren Cashen’s cross earned Llandudno a point.
Genero Adran South
Carmarthen Town marked their Genero Adran South debut with a 2-1 comeback win over Cwmbran Celtic at the LHP Stadium. Kaitlin Smith put Celtic ahead, but Summer Evans equalised before Flavia Jenkins’ stoppage time strike secured the points for the hosts. Cardiff Met Women opened their Genero Adran South campaign with a 2-1 win over Cascade YC at Cyncoed Campus. Scarlett Davies scored from the spot in first half stoppage time and set up Molly Chapman’s goal against her former club. A late red card for Esme Kilburn-Thompson gave Cascade hope, but despite Ellis Lunn’s reply, Met held firm. Pure Swansea secured a 2-0 win over Llanelli Town at Stebonheath, thanks to Caitlin Meadows’ double. Her dipping free kick broke the deadlock, and a stoppage time penalty sealed the victory despite Llanelli’s earlier chances. Penybont overturned an early deficit to win 3-1 against newly promoted Taffs Well at Rhiw Dda’r. Rianne Jones gave Taffs Well the lead, but Erin Bater equalised before Cerys Jones and Freya Grandin struck in the second half to secure the points for Penybont.
