Genero Adran Leagues
Cardiff City stormed to the top of the Genero Adran Premier on goal difference with a commanding 5-0 victory over Barry Town United at Jenner Park.
Remarkably, the top five teams in the table are all level on points but it is City who sit in pole position following a second win in successive matches.
Despite a lively start from the hosts, the reigning Champions took control, with Mikayla Cook opening the scoring on 33 minutes after a precise through ball from Mackenzie Olden. Laura Curnock converted a penalty in the 43rd minute following a handball, and Olden’s stunning strike from the edge of the box in first half stoppage time made it 3-0. Curnock grabbed her second on the hour, capitalising on a defensive error, before turning provider for Olden to complete her brace with a clinical late finish.
Wrexham’s unbeaten start to the season ended with a 4-2 defeat against The New Saints at Park Hall. TNS, eager to bounce back from their loss at Aberystwyth, raced into a two-goal lead within 16 minutes through Caitlin Chapman, set up by Kelsey Richardson, and Chantelle Teare. Chapman struck again before the break, assisted by Teare, but Wrexham responded in stoppage time when substitute Abbie Iddenden teed up Mariam Mahmood. Any hopes of a comeback were dashed early in the second half as Zara Gibbs marked her first TNS start with a goal from Maria Francis-Jones’ cross. Despite late chances for Jodie Bartle, Lili Jones, and Katie Barker, Wrexham’s only further reply came from 17-year-old debutant Neve Adams, whose superb stoppage time strike hit the post and went in.
Swansea City maintained their perfect start to the campaign, ending Aberystwyth Town’s unbeaten run with a 2-0 win at Llandarcy. Summer signing Eilish Mitchell headed home her first goal for the club from Chloe Chivers’ corner after just 11 minutes. The Swans sealed the victory in the 84th minute through Aimee Deacon, who netted her first goal since January to secure the three points.
Briton Ferry Llansawel celebrated their first points under new manager Rhys Thomas with a convincing 4-0 victory at Pontypridd United. After a goalless first half at USW Sport Park, Lowri Ridings broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart, heading in Megan Kearle’s corner. Jade Crofts doubled the lead six minutes later with a sublime top corner finish from Ashley Griffiths’ through ball. Maia Owen added a clever first time chip in the 75th minute, and substitute Casey Daniels rounded off the scoring late on, tucking away a loose ball for her first club goal.
