Genero Adran Leagues

League leaders Wrexham have secured their place in the Genero Adran Premier Championship Conference with three matches to spare after a pulsating 3-2 win over Aberystwyth Town at The Rock on Sunday.

Rosie Hughes needed only three minutes to open the scoring, lashing a first time effort into the far corner past Sophie Steele. Aberystwyth responded in spectacular fashion on 15 minutes when Amy Jenkins dispossessed captain Jodie Bartle twice before lofting an audacious chip over Liz Craven from fully 30 yards.

Jenkins then pounced on a loose ball to fire Aberystwyth ahead, but Wrexham drew level ten minutes later through Mariam Mahmood’s dipping strike from the edge of the area. The Red Dragons regained the lead five minutes after the restart when Hughes controlled Carra Jones’ diagonal ball superbly before rifling past Steele. Jenny Sugarman’s side held firm to claim a vital three points that extends their lead at the top of the table - Cardiff City’s match with Briton Ferry Llansawel having been postponed - and confirms top four football in the next phase.

Swansea City moved to within touching distance of the Championship Conference with a commanding 5-1 victory over Pontypridd United at USW Sports Park. After Madison Lloyd had given Pontypridd an early lead, the Swans turned the game around before half time through Maisie Miller’s first goal of the campaign and a Stacey John penalty. Miller and Taite Trivett traded assists in a frantic two minute spell after the break, before Chloe Chivers continued her rich vein of away form with Swansea’s fifth.

The New Saints’ hopes of a top half place suffered a setback as they were held 1-1 by Barry Town United at Park Hall. Chelsea Cochrane marked her Barry debut with a header from Jasmine Turner’s cross, only for Lexie Harrison to equalise from close range ten minutes later. Beca Thomas struck the bar for the visitors in the second half, while goalkeeper Molly Arnesen produced several fine saves as the points were shared.

Genero Adran North

Connah’s Quay Nomads extended their extraordinary unbeaten league run to 21 matches with a 3-1 derby victory over Flint Town United at the Essity Stadium. Ella Jones headed the hosts in front from Megan Andrews’ cross, only for Flint’s Rosie Hughes to equalise against the run of play. Jones restored Nomads’ advantage with a sublime first time finish from Libby MacKenzie’s through ball before substitute Megan Galeandro sealed the points in stoppage time. Jordan Parry’s side now sit five points clear at the summit. In the division’s other fixture, Felinheli were leading Bangor 2-0 through Jordanne Greenough and Llywela Edwards when torrential rain sadly forced the match to be abandoned just before the hour mark.

Genero Adran South

Cardiff Met Women opened up a three point lead at the top of the Genero Adran South after a comfortable 3-0 win against Taffs Well at Cyncoed Stadium. Carys Gittins made the breakthrough in style, receiving from Olivia Barnes and unleashing an unstoppable 35-yard drive into the top corner. Anna Houghton doubled the advantage early in the second half from close range, before Scarlett Davies completed the scoring with a delicate lob over Chrissy Kidley. The result marks Met’s largest home league victory since March 2024. Pure Swansea missed the chance to stay level on points with the leaders, falling 1-0 at home to Cwmbran Celtic despite the visitors playing the final ten minutes with ten players after Eloise Meaney’s red card. Lauren Boyd’s early strike – her sixth goal in two matches – proved decisive. Penybont maintained their impressive recent form as Cerys Jones scored twice in a 2-1 win over bottom side Cascade YC. Jones finished twice from Erin Bater assists to put Bont two goals ahead, and although Ellis Lunn pulled one back, Cascade remain pointless after five games. Carmarthen Town meanwhile returned to winning ways with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Llanelli Town at the LHP Stadium. Casi Jones settled the contest in the 64th minute, latching onto a long ball, evading two defenders and finding the net via the underside of the bar. The Old Gold stay in third place, three points behind table toppers Cardiff Met.
