Northern Premier Division

Nottingham Forest’s winning start to the season was brought to a halt when they shared a 1-1 draw with Burnley FC Women at the City Ground. The match, between two of the fancied teams in the division, attracted an attendance of 1,077 and Forest looked as though they may be on their way to a fifth straight victory when Melissa Johnson gave them the lead on the half hour. Burnley, who had been beaten for the first time seven days earlier, kept themselves in the game and earned themselves a point when substitute Reanna Blades equalised, ten minutes from time.

Rugby Borough are back within a single point of the lead following their 5-0 success away to West Bromwich Albion. Lily Greenslade put Rugby in front after twelve minutes and it was Yasmin Mosby’s day from that point, scoring a hat-trick with Angelina Nixon adding the other goal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers meanwhile defeated Stoke City 4-0 and this result lifts them into third place, also one point behind Forest. After an own goal had put them ahead, Amber Hughes scored a goal in each half and Beth Merrick wrapped up the twin with the fourth.

Liverpool Feds are up to fifth as they scored six times without reply away to Derby County. They took the lead through Courtney Willis on the stroke of half time and she went on to complete a brace after the break, with Ellie Fletcher, Katie Anderson, Rosie Kinvig and Seren Carrington also getting on the scoresheet, to round off an impressive result for the Feds.

Southern Premier Division

Exeter City’s 29-match unbeaten run in league matches came to an end on Sunday when they were beaten 3-0 by Oxford Utd. All three goals came in the last fifteen minutes, Phoebie Poole netting twice in three matches to put the U’s in a commanding position and Adele Lindbek wrapped up the win in injury time. The result means that Ipswich Town take over at the top of the table on goal difference, despite not having a game, whilst Oxford join them on ten points.

A win would have seen Hashtag Utd take over as leaders but instead they remain in third place after they shared a 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town. An own goal gave the Tags a first half lead but they were pegged back after the break when Doris Greenwood earned Cheltenham a share of the spoils.

Lewes drew for the third time in five matches and remain a single point behind Gwalia Utd after their meeting at the Dripping Pan finished in a goalless draw.

It has been a tough start to the campaign for Milton Keynes Dons but they are off the mark following a 3-3 draw with Billericay Town. Sydney Wooton was on target twice for MK along with Annaliese Jacovides, whilst Billericay netted through Nia Evans, Bonnie Horwood and Valentine Pursey.

Division One Midlands

League Cup and Plate action reduced the number of matches to three, but these saw the leading sides step up the pace and move away from their rivals.

Loughborough Lightning hold on to top spot after they defeated Worcester City 4-0. Kayleigh Hines gave Loughborough a first half lead and after the break, they went on to add further goals through Ferne Powell, Zynia Delglyn and Poppy Wright.

The result means that Loughborough stay ahead of Peterborough Utd on goal difference, the Posh Women almost making it five wins out of five when beating Sutton Coldfield Town 5-2. Kier Perkins netted a brace and there was one apiece from Megan Lawlor, Lauren Wilshaw and Frankie Pim, while Sutton’s replies came from Emmalee Hornsby and Olivia Woolston.

Northampton Town continue to head the chasing teams and remain three points behind the top two after they won 4-2 away to Lincoln Utd. Kim Farrow led the scoring for Northampton with a hat-trick and Zoe Boote was also on target, whilst the home side responded through a brace from Olivia Smith.

Division One South East

Cambridge Utd moved up into fourth place and are just three points off the pace after scoring six times without reply past Ashford Town (Middlesex). Alyshia Stojko-Down hit a hat-trick for the U’s and she was joined on the scoresheet by Eva Hubbard, Isabella Simmons and Kelsey Smith.

Queen’s Park Rangers registered their first league win of the season and they have climbed out of the bottom two places after recent signing Ashleigh Goddard, in her first appearance for the club, and Joanna Blodgett gave them a 2-0 victory over London Seaward.

Division One South West

One match was played in the division on Sunday and it resulted in a change of leadership, Swindon Town going to the top of the table with a 6-0 victory against Maidenhead Utd. Jess Graham, Poppy Dearlove, Katie Sherwood, Holly Beck-Esson, Annabelle Colston and Taylor MacDonald all scored a goal apiece to help their side open up a lead of three points.

Reserve Section round-up

Leeds Utd are heading the fledgling Northern Division table after they stormed to an 8-3 win away to Huddersfield Town. Alex Rigg led the scoring with a hat-trick, Yonah Dias and Abbie Langstaff each contributed a brace and Isla Hill was also on target. York City are also on six points as they edged out Liverpool Feds by the odd goal in seven, thanks to a Rosie Bell hat-trick and Grace Hemmings. Queen’s Park Rangers went second by beating Ashford Town (Middlesex) 4-1 with Amelia Halawi (2), Jasmine Pryke and Lexi Reid on the scoresheet and the meeting between Ipswich Town and Maidenhead Utd ended goalless.
