FA Women’s National League



Northern Premier Division


The top of the table clash went the way of Burnley FC Women, who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 to open up a lead of four points over their opponents. Charlie Chadwick scored the only goal of the game to put the Clarets in the driving seat in the title race.


West Bromwich Albion meanwhile kept themselves on course for a mid-table position when they defeated Hull City 2-1. Lucy Day and Marli Rhodes-Andrews scored the goals to earn Albion a second successive victory, with Hope Knight replying.


Southern Premier Division


Plymouth Argyle restored the one point behind inactive leaders Watford when they ran out 3-0 winners over Cheltenham Town at Home Park. Olivia Francis gave Argyle the lead on the stroke of half time and they went on to add further goals after the break through Ellie Noble and Paris Dalton.


AFC Bournemouth stay in third but lost a little ground on the top two when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Exeter City, following a dramatic final ten minutes. The Cherries took the lead midway through the first half through Georgia Wilson and they remained in front until Sarah Stacey equalised for Exeter in the later stages. Amber Treweek immediately restored Bournemouth's advantage but Stacey scored once again to ensure a share of the spoils for her side.


Division One North


Durham Cestria narrowed the gap on the leading sides on Sunday when they won 2-1 away to Norton & Stockton Ancients. Sacha Millward did give Norton a first half lead before the Wildcats hit back to take the points with goals from Emily Hutchinson and Lleucu Mathias.


On Wednesday night, Leeds Utd held on to the leadership with a 2-0 victory against York City. Amy Woodruff gave them the lead on the half hour and Drew Greene sealed the points when she scored the second, deep into injury time.


Huddersfield Town made sure that they stay one point behind Leeds after they defeated Stockport County 2-0. Both goals came in the first half, Laura Elford opening the scoring and Louise Biggins adding the second.  


Division One Midlands


An eight-goal blast against Stourbridge has seen Peterborough Utd go back to the top of the table. The bulk of the damage was inflicted in the first half as the Posh Women netted six times, including a hat-trick from Jessica Rousseau as well as Lauren Wilshaw, Hayley James and an own goal, before Tara Kirk and Kayleigh Hines added further goals after the break.


Third placed Leafield Athletic meanwhile scored ten times without reply past Lincoln Utd. Evie Gallop led the scoring with a four-goal haul whilst Leonie Joyce and Lucy Davies each weighed in with a brace, while Gemma Fraser, Lizzie Bennett-Steele and Daniela Kraycheva also got on the scoresheet.


Division One South East


Fulham have opened up a four point lead at the top of the table, courtesy of a 6-0 victory away to Chesham Utd. Ellie Olds netted two first half goals and went on to complete her hat-trick on the hour mark, whilst Stella Gandee-Morgan, Hannah MacKenzie and Ella Tagliavini added the others.


Chatham Town boosted their chances of a top three finish when they defeated Actonians Ladies 3-0. Ciara Hynes gave them the lead after five minutes, before Ellie Jeffkins and Lottie Sharp added further goals for the Chats during the second half.


Division One South West


One match was played in the division on Sunday, Swindon Town going back to the top of the table by beating Abingdon Utd 5-0. Annabelle Colston and Lacy-Jai Liggett ensured that Swindon were two goals ahead at half time and after Colston completed her double on the hour, Billie Haynes rounded off the scoring by adding two further goals.


Abingdon were in action once again on Wednesday and they remain two points behind fifth placed Maidenhead Utd in the table after their meeting finished in a goalless draw.


Bridgwater Utd meanwhile made up ground on the top three with a 1-0 success away to Marine Academy Plymouth on Thursday night. Beatriz Kretteis settled matters when she scored the only goal of the game, midway through the second half.


Reserve Section round-up...


Derby County are only two points off the pace in the Northern Division following their 5-1 victory away to Huddersfield Town. Krystal Trinh netted twice along with Ebony Stubbs, while two own goals completed the tally. AFC Fylde meanwhile lifted themselves off the bottom of the table when Daisy Botham (2) and Ruby Webster gave them a 3-1 win away to Notts County.


In the Championship Division. Cheltenham Town returned to the top of the table with a 3-0 victory at Rugby Borough, courtesy of a goal apiece from Katie Ashmead, Maysa Gray and Sophie Sharpe.
