FA Women’s National League
Northern Premier Division
One match was played in the division on Sunday and it produced a significant result at the foot of the table, with Sporting Khalsa climbing out of the bottom two after beating Halifax FC Women 6-1. Megan Cann and Macy Winters put Khalsa two ahead inside the opening fifteen minutes and they went on to add further goals before the break through a Laura Smith brace and Annabel Davies. Megan Cardenas did pull a goal back for Halifax early in the second half but Khalsa went on to put the seal on a fine result for themselves when Molly Philpott scored the sixth late on.
Division One North
With the teams around them not playing, Chorley took the chance to go level on points with leaders Leeds Utd by beating York City 5-3. Grace Vella bagged a brace for the Magpies and she was joined on the scoresheet by Ellie Cook, Nicola Worthington and Megan Parker. Katie Astle, Kanisha Underdown and Ocean Rolandsen all replied for York who remain just outside of the bottom two.
Barnsley FC Women consolidated themselves in the top half, thanks to a 4-1 victory away to Fylde Women. Jodie Gregory, Lauryn Wilcock and Sharone Buckle put Barnsley three ahead at half time and after Nicola James netted a consolation for the Coasters, Gregory completed her double to round off the scoring for the visitors.
Durham Cestria meanwhile edged out Doncaster Rovers Belles by the odd goal in five. Erin Nicholson scored a late winner for the Wildcats to add to earlier strikes from Grace Collinson and Nicki Gears, whilst the Belles’ replies came from Jasmine Saxton and Lindsey Tugby-Andrew.
Division One Midlands
Northampton Town were narrow 1-0 winners from the top of the table clash against Leafield Athletic, to see them hold on to the leadership. Kim Farrow gave Northampton a tenth win on the trot and avanged their only defeat to Leafield on the opening day of the season when she scored the only goal of the game, four minutes into the second half.
Defeat for Leafield means that Peterborough Utd have replaced them in second place after they defeated Worcester City 1-0. The Posh Women left it late, as Megan Lawlor ended Worcester’s resistance with the only goal of the game, deep into injury time. .
Loughborough Lightning meanwhile scored nine times without reply against Lincoln City and remain handily placed, just behind the top three but with games in hand. Zynia Delglyn and Jade Arber both hit hat-tricks for Loughborough and they were joined on the scoresheet by Jessica Collyer, Evie Williams and Ferne Powell.
Barnsley Women made it three wins on the trot and moved level on points with fifth placed Boldmere St Michaels after winning their meeting 4-2. Laura Bartup was on target twice for Barnsley along with Jodie Michalska and Olivia Richardson, whilst Anna Wilcox and Laura Cooper replied for the Mikes.
Sutton Coldfield Town continued their upsurge in form by running out 5-0 winners over Solihull Moors. Niamh Deasy led the scoring for Sutton with a hat-trick and the others came from Lauren Da’Casto and Emmalee Hornsby.
Division One South East
Cambridge Utd produced one of the surprise results of the season so far when they notched up a 5-1 victory away to high riding Actonians Ladies. A win would have seen the A’s return to the top of the table but despite a goal from Prudence Todd-Warmoth, Isabella Simmons and Sarah Wiltshire each scored twice for the U’s and Rosy Wodhams was also on target.
Two of the teams currently in the bottom three met each other in an important clash and it was Chesham Utd who were to pick up a morale boosting 1-0 victory away to London Seaward, Rebecca Fraser scoring the game’s only goal midway through the second half.
Division One South West
One match was played in the division on Sunday and it produced a very significant result, Swindon Town being unable to take an opportunity to return to the top of the table when they were beaten 2-1 by Keynsham Town. All three goals came in the first half, with Naomi Clipston and Immi Stocker putting Keynsham two ahead and only their way to a third successive win in the league, despite Annabel Colston reducing the arrears for Swindon from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.
Reserve Section round-up
Leeds Utd narrowed the gap on Northern Division leaders Middlesbrough to three points after beating them 3-1, thanks to Yonah Dias, Alex Rigg and Isla Hill. York City remain in third despite going down 2-0 to Newcastle Utd, whose scorers were Rose McCarthy and Lucy Plews. Mia Phillips-Germano and Aimee Lawrence were on target for Chorley as they picked up their first point from a 2-2 draw with Liverpool Feds and goals from Ellie Banks, Matilda Rowntree and Elle Turner earned Stockport County a 3-2 victory over Huddersfield Town.
Stoke City moved to within a single point of Midland Division leaders Derby County after Hope Brassington, Darcy Dickens and Lily Skeldon gave them a 3-2 win against third placed Doncaster Rovers Belles. Sporting Khalsa meanwhile defeated Rugby Borough 5-3 thanks to a Pheena Smith hat-trick, Natalija Douglas-Dingwall and Leyla Eminoglu.
In the South East & Central Division, Kaci-Jai Bonwick, Dulcie King, Alicia Russell, Erin Williams and Frankie Williams were all on the scoresheet as second placed Ipswich Town won 5-2 away to Queen’s Park Rangers. Third placed Billericay Town meanwhile scored seven times without reply past AFC Sudbury, Beth Chambers leading the scoring with a four-goal haul and the others from Sophie Hart (2) and Layla Kenly.
One match was played in the South West Division, third placed Swindon Town running out 5-0 winners over Keynsham Town. Elise Haines, Antoinette Salaveria, Kayley Drury, Alana Couling and Elise Clayton all scored a goal apiece for the Wiltshire side.
