FA Women’s National League

Northern Premier Division

Rugby Borough made a swift return to form and are back on top of the table following their 3-0 victory against Liverpool Feds. Nicola Potts put Rugby in the driving seat with a first half double, before Ebony Wiseman rounded off the scoring with the third goal after the break.

Huddersfield Town had started the day in pole position but are back in second, although they preserved their unbeaten start when drawing 2-2 with Stoke City. Delphi Cole and Olivia Edwards both put Stoke in the lead, with Huddersfield hitting back on each occasion for a notable point, thanks to equalisers from Tamira Livingston and Aimee Kelly - whose goal came deep into injury time.

West Bromwich Albion are in excellent form right now and a fourth successive win has lifted them above Stoke and into third place. Jessica Collyer and Monique Robinson put Albion two goals ahead at Derby County inside the opening twenty minutes, before Robinson put the seal on an impressive 3-0 victory by completing her double, midway through the second half.

A 3-2 victory away to Loughborough Lightning has lifted Norwich City above their opponents and into the top half of the table. The Canaries took a first half lead through Grace Riglar, who doubled their advantage after the break, before Olivia Ramon reduced the arrears for the home side. Holly Kennard netted a third for Norwich with nine minutes remaining and this proved to be a decisive strike, despite Hannah Langford giving Lightning hope with a late reply.

Peterborough Utd ended a run of three straight defeats with a 1-0 success away to Middlesbrough, who are now at the foot of the table. Poppie Brown scored the only goal of the game just before half time, to hand the Posh Women their second league win of the season.

Hull City have climbed off the bottom following their 1-1 draw against Boldmere St Michaels. Maia Clark put the Mikes ahead with just three minutes on the clock but Hull battled back for a share of the spoils, when Erin Nicholson equalised with half time approaching.

Southern Premier Division

Sunday was an excellent day for leaders Oxford Utd as they extended their advantage at the top to five points. The Us faced a trip to second placed AFC Bournemouth but put themselves in a strong position, even at this early stage, when Kate Wiseman scored the only goal of the game in the twelfth minute.

Oxford were further boosted by the news that third placed Fulham went down to their first defeat of the season, beaten 2-1 at home by Exeter City. First half goals from Bow Jackson and Charlotte Whitmore gave Exeter their best result of the season so far, despite Rianna Dean pulling one back for the Cottagers on the hour mark.

A win would have taken Portsmouth into the top three but instead, they remain in fourth after their clash with Lewes finished in a goalless draw in front of 1,294 at Fratton Park. Pompey are three points off second place, and have a game in hand, whilst the Rookettes sit just below mid-table following their third draw in six matches.

AFC Wimbledon made their return to league action but their match against Swindon Town at the County Ground was also to finish goalless. For Swindon, it was some relief following a run of four defeats on the trot whilst the Dons can actually go up to second place, were they to win both games in hand.

On a tight day, when only twelve goals were scored across the six matches in the division, the day's top scorers were Real Bedford who won 3-1 away to Plymouth Argyle. The Pilgrims did take the lead on the half hour through Shana Dolbel but hopes of a first win of the season were dashed after the break, when Anele Kamani, Kelci Bowers and Ellie Head all scored for Real to take them up into fifth place.

The gap between Cheltenham Town and Hashtag Utd remains at four points after theie meeting finished in a 2-2 draw. Emma Samways opened the scoring for the Tags after twelve minutes but after a second half brace by Chloe Snook turned matters around in Cheltenham's favour, Natasha Snelling salvaged a point for Hashtag when she netted a late equaliser.

No matches were played in the other divisions due to involvement in the Women’s FA Cup Third Round Qualifying.
