England under-19 squad to start Euro campaign

New England Under-19 head coach John Salomon has named a 21-player squad for the first round of UEFA Women’s U19 European qualifying.

The Young Lionesses will travel to Bosnia & Herzegovina in October for three qualifying fixtures. Salomon’s side will first play Denmark on Wednesday 7 October (12:00 BST), before playing Switzerland on Saturday 10 October (12:00 BST) and wrapping up group A5 against hosts Bosnia & Herzegovina on Tuesday 13 October (12:00 BST).

The top three sides will progress to the second round of qualifying in April next year, where the group winners will secure their place at the UEFA Women’s U19 EURO finals in Hungary in June. The tournament will also provide a route to qualification for the 2028 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

This will be Salomon’s first window in charge of the WU19s after being appointed permanent head coach earlier this year, having previously led England’s WU16s and WU15s.

John Salomon said: “I’m really looking forward to bringing the players and staff together for our first camp of the season and getting our European campaign underway. It’s an exciting opportunity for the players to test themselves against three strong opponents. We know each game will bring a different challenge and that will be really valuable for the development of the group. Qualifying for a EUROs is always a big ambition and we want to put ourselves in the strongest possible position. We’re excited to get started and see what this group can achieve over the season together.”
