Brentford collect second silverware

Brentford completed their season with victory in the London & South East Regional League Trophy final, this time against Division One North rivals AFC Whyteleafe by four goals to two after a highly competitive battle.
Twice behind early on, the Bees turned the match in their favour in the final twenty five minutes to secure their second silverware of the season.
Dulcie Gray opened the scoring for 'Leafe in the sixth minute, with Chloe Logie equalising with a well placed header from a left wing delivery on 15 minutes. The Surrey side were giving a strong performance with determined defence and speedy counter attacks and from one such move, Gray crossed from the right for Molly Turner to convert with a clever looping header.
Once again, Brentford pressed for the equaliser which arrived via a long range lofted free kick from Samantha Read which was perfectly placed beyond the reach of keeper Poppy Anderson on 35 minutes.
With parity restored, the match entered a phase of stalemate until a dramatic 65th minute. Whyteleafe were inches away from regaining the lead a third time as Becci Keyte's shot bounced down on the line off the bar then within seconds, Logie was through at the other end to slot the ball past Anderson for her 53rd goal of a prolific season.
Brentford managed to protect their hard won lead very effectively and finally clinched the match when Nikki Woods. who had a fine match down the left of Brentford's attack, slid in a loose ball in additional time.
As with the Capital Intermediate Cup win last month against Leatherhead, both sides attracted enthusiastic support and created a good atmosphere. Both teams competed well in hot conditions to provide a fine spectacle to close out another successful LSERWL season.
