Blues boost promotion push with six new arrivals

With the promotion race to the Barclays Women’s Super League intensifying, Birmingham City return to home action in 2026 with a fixture against Nottingham Forest at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Sunday 1 February, kick-off 2pm.

This will be Amy Merrick’s side’s first home match of the calendar year and an early opportunity to showcase a strengthened squad following six additions during the January transfer window. With momentum building, the fixture presents another chance to apply pressure at the top of the table.

The squad was reinforced with six new signings in January, including, Lotta Lindström, Asato Miyagawa, Shanade Hopcroft, Michaela Kovacs, Hannah Silcock, and club record signing, 22-year-old Swedish midfielder Wilma Leidhammar (from IFK Norrköping), adding depth, quality and experience ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Each arrival brings a different pathway to Birmingham, but all share the same objective of securing promotion to the Women’s Super League.

Blues Women now look forward to welcoming supporters back to St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park for what promises to be a defining period in the season. The backing of supporters proved crucial last year and, with promotion firmly in sight, every voice inside the stadium will matter.
