Asmita Ale completes Leicester loan

Leicester City Women is delighted to confirm that defender Asmita Ale has joined the Foxes on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the 2023-24 Barclays Women's Super League season.

The 22-year-old full back makes the switch to King Power Stadium having competed in both the WSL and Women's Championship during her seven years in senior women’s football with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Ale said: “I am really excited to be here and grateful for the opportunity. This is a great Club to come to and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“At my age, it’s important to have game-time to develop as a player. It will be good for me joining Leicester and hopefully I can help the team put some more points on the board.”

An England youth international, Ale brings further experience to Willie Kirk's squad and bolsters the Club's defensive options going into the second half of the season. Ale started her career with Aston Villa, signing for the West Midlands Club at eight-years-old, and was rewarded with her first professional contract shortly after turning 18 following her progress through the club’s Centre of Excellence.

The versatile defender would go on to represent Villa in both the Women's Championship and WSL and would go on to be a prominent member of the side that gained promotion to the WSL 2019-20.

The 2021-22 season saw Ale join Tottenham Hotspur following four successful years within the Villa first-team. Internationally, Ale has represented England at various youth levels and was most recently involved with England for the inaugural Under-23 European League.

She will now link up with her new teammates as the Foxes prepare to take on Everton away from home on Sunday 28th January (12.30pm kick off).
