Ashton Gate to host Subway Cup Final

WSL Football can confirm that Ashton Gate Stadium will host the 2025-26 Subway® Women’s League Cup Final.

The showpiece fixture – celebrating its 15th year in 2026 - will take place on Sunday 15 March, kicking off at 2.15pm, and will be broadcast live on BBC One and Sky Sports.

Boasting a capacity of almost 27,000, Ashton Gate has a proven track record of playing host to high-profile fixtures across women’s sport, including the Lionesses and Red Roses, as well as most recently, the Women’s Rugby World Cup.

It is also the primary ground for Bristol City’s men’s and women’s football teams who currently ply their trade in the Sky Bet Championship and Barclays Women’s Super League 2 respectively, alongside rugby union team Bristol Bears.

VAR (Video Assistant Referee) and Goal Line Technology will be in use for the final, while for the first time in the fixture’s history, supporters will have the option to drink alcohol in view of the pitch as part of the league’s ongoing Fan Choice pilot.

Confirmation of the final venue comes ahead of the quarter finals of the competition this coming Sunday 21 December, with those fixtures as follows:

Crystal Palace v Arsenal – 1pm KO, VBS Community Stadium

Liverpool v Chelsea – 1pm KO, St Helens Stadium

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur – 1pm KO, Progress With Unity Stadium

West Ham United v Manchester City – 1pm KO, Chigwell Construction Stadium

Each quarter final will be shown live on the Barclays WSL YouTube channel, with the option of watching all four games at once with YouTube Multiview. Additionally, each game can be watched on Sky Sports’ WSL YouTube channel, with Sky’s Multiview option available on Sky Sports Premier League.

The semi finals of the competition meanwhile – set to be played over January 21 and 22, 2026 – are as follows:

Crystal Palace OR Arsenal v Manchester United OR Tottenham Hotspur

West Ham United OR Manchester City v Liverpool OR Chelsea

Speaking on the announcement, Holly Murdoch, Chief Operating Officer for WSL Football, said: “Bristol is a city rich in sporting heritage, and with its strong history of hosting major women’s sporting events, Ashton Gate feels like the perfect choice for this season’s final.

“We look forward to working closely with the team there to deliver a memorable experience for our fans and the wider Bristol community.”

Ashton Gate Chief Operating Officer Ross Wormald said: “This is another great honour for the stadium as we continue to secure prestigious sporting events.

“We are very proud of our matchday experience and have consistently shown that we can host fantastic, family-friendly women’s sporting events, be it Lionesses or Rugby World Cups, and we can’t wait to welcome fans to a great day at Ashton Gate.”

Bristol City Women Board Director Lisa Knights added: “The interest and profile of women’s football is growing each year, and it is an important part of our strategy to inspire young girls and women in Bristol and the South West.

“We have seen the positive impact on participation in women’s football of Ashton Gate hosting the Lionesses, either playing or watching. Having the Subway Women’s League Cup Final on Mother’s Day is another great opportunity to showcase top flight football in the South West.”
