Lisa settles tight battle
Women's Football World Cup News 2 Jul 2011
Sweden 1 (Dahlkvist 64) Korea DPR 0

Sweden guaranteed themselves a place in the quarter finals after a second half goal settled a tight encounter in Augsburg.
Lotta Schelin had the game's first opportunity in the second minute when she broke clear on goal but fired her shot just over. Korea hit back with Kim Su Gyong producing a similar effort at the other end which also cleared the bar.
The first half was a largely tedious affair with the two sides cancelling each other out but Schelin was to go close on the half hour as she latched onto a neat pass from Caroline Seger but her shot hit the side netting. Jessica Landstrom sent a long range effort over the bar as the half ended goalless.
Sweden stepped up the pace after the interval and Lisa Dahlkvist should have done better when set up by Schelin but the midfielder's control let her down with only Hong Myong Hui to beat. Dahlkvist had a better effort on goal which was charged down after a Sara Thunebro corner had been half cleared.
Sweden's pressure was rewarded in the 64th minute as Linda Forsberg played in a cross from the left and Therese Sjogran laid the ball off for Dahlkvist who made tucked the ball home to give her side the lead.
The North Koreans were unlucky not to draw level when a Jo Yun Mi corner broke for Ri Un Hyang whose shot was headed off the line by Thunebro.
Korea pushed for an equaliser in the dying minutes but Sweden kept things tight to hold on for the win which means they will go through and Korea will be on their way home. Sweden must play United States to decide who will top the group but they must do so without captain Seger who picked up a second yellow card and a one match ban.
