Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of Irish international centre back Claire Walsh.
The 26-year-old joins the from Women's National League side, Peamount United, on a two-year deal.
The defender has been at Peamount United since 2018 and was part of the League and Cup double winning side of 2019. She followed that up with another winners medal in the 2020 Women's National League.
Walsh also featured against Glasgow City in the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Women's Champions League last season alongside Niamh Farrelly, putting in a fantastic performance in defence and scoring in the penalty shootout. Her performances for Peamount have also seen her in the Irish Women's National League team of the year in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Prior to her time at Peamount United, Walsh played for UCD in Ireland and Central Connecticut State University in the United States of America. Walsh also has three Republic of Ireland caps to her name and was named in the most recent squad.
Claire Walsh said on signing for Glasgow City: "I am delighted to have signed my first professional contract for Glasgow City. It's such a successful club and I can't wait to get started and help the team as much as I can."
Walsh is the second new face to join City in the summer transfer window with Portuguese international full back Ágata Filipa joining from SC Braga.
