Cardiff City picked up the result they needed in order to clinch promotion to the National Division when they defeated Keynsham Town 2-0.
The South Wales side had to avoid defeat in order to take the runners-up spot in the Southern Division and never looked in danger against a depleted Keynsham side with Welsh international duo Amie Lea and Nia Jones scoring the all-important goals.
Cardiff lost all of their first three league games and were actually bottom of the table back in October but a run of 11 wins in 15 matches was enough to see them regain National Division status for the first time since 2008.
The final match in the Northern Division also took place and it saw Leicester City claim a third place finish with a 2-1 win away to Manchester City who, despite leading the table virtually all season, have ended up in fourth.
Leicester goalkeeper Leanne Hall made two brilliant saves from Rebecca Lee and Krystle Johnston before the Foxes took the lead on 32 minutes with a fierce header by Annabel Johnson from a Natasha Meade corner. City equalised early in the second half through Johnston but the Foxes captured the points on the hour mark when Courtney Sweetman-Kirk fired home from 20 yards following a Katie Lowder through ball.
