Manchester City followed up their midweek victory over Rochdale by beating Newcastle Utd
4-0 to preserve their four point lead at the top of the Northern Division.
Krystle Johnston gave City a sixteenth minute lead, before Saffron Jordan netted a goal in each half. Carly Bayley wrapped things up with the fourth, twenty minutes from time.
Aston Villa continue to lead the chasing teams as they won 3-0 away to Preston North End. Erin Vaughan, Natalie Gibson and Kelly Clarke scored the goals to keep Villa's winning run going.
Coventry City kept their hopes of a top two place intact with a 3-2 success at Rochdale. Leanne McKenna netted twice, including the winner, with Karen Clough adding the other for the Sky Blues while Alyson Hastie and Chantelle Parry replied for Dale.
Curzon Ashton's mini revival was halted by a 2-0 defeat away to the other promotion chasing side, Leicester City. After Natasha Meade and Issy Hayes had struck the woodwork at either end, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk opened the scoring early in the second half and Natalie Reay settled matters with five minutes remaining.
Leeds City Vixens moved back into mid-table by beating Derby County 3-0. Meganne Paul gave Leeds a sixth minute lead with Stacey Daniel and Jess Holbrook adding the other goals, either side of half time.
