Wales drew 1-1 with hosts Switzerland in their first match of the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship second qualifying round in Kussnacht.
The squad, beset by illness and injury, has seen Katie Williams and goalkeeper Alice Evans called in to replace Mali Summers and Katy Maddock while Alex George of Llanidloes also received her first call up.
Both sides battled hard in unusually warm conditions in the first half, though Wales goalkeeper Ffion Ashman, gaining her first cap at Under-17 level, remained largely untested. Hannah Keryakoplis came closest to causing an upset when she got past Swiss keeper Nadine Böni, however her resulting shot was blocked by Chantal Sac.
The second half saw an early attempt on goal by Switzerland's Naomi Bruderer, which sailed over the bar. However, Switzerland were later to take the lead through Bettina Brühlhart who took advantage of a rare gap in the Welsh defence. Wales fought on and were rewarded six minutes from time when captain Keryakoplis again eluded the Swiss goalkeeper and this time found nothing between her and the equaliser.
Wales will be looking to build on this start when they face Scotland on Monday in Rapperswil.
