Nottingham Forest are in their first major Final after a second half free kick from Catherine Lawson gave them a narrow 1-0 victory over Leicester City in their Premier League Cup semi final.
The two teams had met seven days earlier in the F.A.Women's Cup with Forest winning 4-2 on that occasion, and Leicester enjoyed the better of things in the first half as they sought revenge for that defeat. Natasha Meade was denied by Forest goalkeeper Mary Earps and Natalie Reay shot narrowly wide, whilst at the other end Andi Bell was prevented from opening the scoring by a Leanne Hall save and Annabel Johnson clearance.
After the break, Suzanne Davies headed against the bar from a free kick as Forest stepped up their game but Leicester again went close, Meade also rattling the bar with a 30-yard strike.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Forest were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal and Catherine Lawson duly drove home a left foot shot to put her side in front.
Bell went close to a second for Forest but the National Division side closed the game out for a very hard earned victory.
