Mossley Hill v Luton Town
 Women's Football News 5 Feb 2011
F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Mossley Hill took the headlines in the Second Round with a stunning 3-2 victory against Northern Division table toppers Manchester City.
Sophie Perry scored twice and Carla Lee added the other to cause probably the biggest upset of the competition so far. The Northern Combination side will be home in the Third Round to Luton Town, who caused a surprise of their own by beating Queen's Park Rangers 2-1 thanks to Rebecca Kane and Stephanie Ames.
Luton Town's first season in senior football was in 2001-02 and in just seven years, they worked their way up the pyramid to the Premier League when carrying off the South East Combination title in 2008-09. Remarkably, the club found itself in the Northern Division and the extraordinary travelling commitment proved too much, resulting in relegation back to the Combination after just a single season. This means that the club has the unwanted distinction of being the only club in the history of women's football to have played league games against both Newquay and Newcastle!
This season started slowly with a relegation hangover but in recent weeks the squad has put together a nine game winning run in all competitions and the free flowing football has returned with the team enjoying their football again. The success of the senior squad has always been based on home grown talent with 90% of the current squad having represented Town in the Home Counties Girls League.
John Wyatt is the club's manager, assisted by Dave Baker with Nikki Baker as Coach/Physio. Rebecca Kane and Jess McKay are likely to provide the main goal threat while the likes of Carly Cowell, Jade McEntaggart and Michelle Byrne are set to be key performers.
Mossley Hill Athletics Club will be the setting for this tie which provides a great opportunity for a Combination level club to reach the Fourth Round and within one game of possibly meeting a FA WSL club. Both teams have achieved fine results in the Cup so far and this match is too close to call.
