Sporting Club Albion will step out for their plum F.A.Women's Cup sponsored by E.ON Third Round tie against Millwall Lionesses this weekend having reached this stage of the competition for the first time in their history.
The Midland Combination side, which is West Bromwich Albion FC's official representative club for all sports outside the professional football department and academy, progressed through the Second Round with a 2-0 victory against Premier League opponents Aston Villa and caretaker manager Dave Smith is more than satisfied with the club's performances this season. "Since the management team and I took over in September we've been very pleased with the progress that the squad has made," he says.
"In all competitions we've seen great performances - against Leicester City and Radcliffe in the league, Stoke City in the League Cup and the stunning 2-0 win at Aston Villa in the FA Cup to name but a few.
"I am sure Millwall will provide us with a great challenge and I know the girls and staff are really looking forward to the game against a club with great tradition in the national game for girls football.
"The fact that we have progressed further in the F.A.Cup than ever before is testament to the hard work of everyone involved and, I feel, is a sign of great things to come."
