Cambridge Women are determined to enjoy the occasion when they take on Leeds City Vixens in the Third Round of the F.A.Women's Cup sponsored by E.ON on Sunday.
The South East Combination club have reached this stage for the very first time and are determined to make a good impression against their Premier League opponents. "The club has a great buzz surrounding it in anticipation of the visit of Leeds City Vixens," says manager Kevin Hoover. "I have got one injury concern and that's regarding our top scorer Laura Baker, she suffered an injury during a league game two weeks ago but is determined to be ready. She's told me that she is desperate to play and Laura deserves to be involved after being so successful in her first season of senior football."
Goalkeeper Verity Crook was the hero of the last round, as they won through a penalty shootout against Stoke City and she said: "After our exciting game up in Stoke, the team is on a high and the atmosphere around the club is very positive. Sunday is going to be a great test for us against higher opposition but if we play to our potential it's bound to be another exciting game, hopefully with an outcome of a Cambridge win!"
Laura Bright, who is the club's vice captain, added: "The FA Cup is a great opportunity for us to test ourselves against larger clubs and Leeds City Vixens is going to be the biggest game of our season so far. All the players are really looking forward to the game and know if we perform well, we're capable of competing against most sides. Anything can happen in the FA Cup and we're hoping to provide an upset."
