FA WSL fixtures announced - 24 Dec 2010 - Women's Football NewsThe first half of the fixture list for the inaugural FA WSL season has been confirmed, with the new league kicking off on Thursday 14 April 2011.
There are two stand-out fixtures in the first round of games as Chelsea entertain Arsenal while there is a Merseyside derby to look forward to on the same night as FA Women's Cup holders Everton travel to neighbours Liverpool. The remaining two opening day matches comprises a trip to the Midlands for Bristol Academy where they will take on Birmingham and Lincoln Ladies will host Doncaster Rovers Belles.
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April sees a full set of weekend games and a lot of attention will be focused on Boreham Wood on the Sunday as Arsenal and Everton, first and second in last season's FA Women's Premier League (National Division), collide.
Each team's first seven matches, up to and including Thursday 12 May, are listed below.
The FA WSL will be a semi-professional, competitive, sustainable and commercially attractive summer league at the top of women's football in this country. Consisting of eight teams, it will run from April to August, with a break for the World Cup, and five live matches will be broadcast live on ESPN throughout that period.
