Gills to play Chelsea
 Women's Football News 9 Nov 2010
Gillingham take on Chelsea in a prestigious friendly on Wednesday evening as Chelsea step up their preparations for the Super League.
It represents a good test for the Gills who recently took on Arsenal in a friendly and in a good display lost 4-0, so they will be hoping to go one better on Wednesday evening.
Chelsea are another side packed full of star players and internationals such as Casey Stoney and Claire Rafferty. They will sure to be a tough challenge for the Gills, but it represents a great opportunity for the Gills to test.
Talking ahead of the game, Director of Football Martin Andrews said: "This is yet another fantastic opportunity for the Gills, it shows how far we have come as a Club in such a short space of time.
"To be able to attract teams like Chelsea and Arsenal for friendlies, is something myself and Ian [Varney] could only dream of when we came onboard a few years ago."
A bumper crowd attended the Arsenal game, as a Club record 317 people were treated to a great game against the best side in women's football and the Club hope the Chelsea game will prove just as popular. The club wants to break its record attendance and the fact that Chelsea will be sending a full strength squad may go some way to them doing this.
The match will take place at the home of Chatham Town FC and kick off will be at 7.45pm with discounted entry for anyone with an unlimited card for Cineworld. Ticket prices on the door are £5 adults and £2.50 concessions and OAP's.
