Lindsay keeps City in front
 Women's Football News 28 Sep 2010
Manchester City maintained their excellent start to the season and a 1-0 victory away to Preston North End keeps them two points ahead in the Northern Division.
Lindsey Savage scored the only goal of the game for City via an eighth minute free kick to settle a closely fought match in which Preston missed a first half penalty.
Coventry City stay in second after running out 4-0 winners at Curzon Ashton. Christina Torkildsen netted twice to put the Sky Blues two ahead at the break and she completed her hat-trick after half time, with Callan Barber adding the other goal.
Leeds City Vixens are another team to have started well and their 4-0 win against Aston Villa has lifted them into third. Emma Lipman was on target twice for the Vixens, along with Natalie Haigh and leading scorer Meganne Paul.
Newly promoted Rochdale are coming to terms with life in the Premier League, climbing into the top four courtesy of a 2-0 victory away to Newcastle Utd. Keeleigh Savage kept up her superb start to the season by netting both goals, taking her tally so far to six.
Derby County leapfrogged local rivals Leicester City in the table by beating them 2-1, to record their first league win of the new campaign. Hannah Ward slotted Derby ahead after eight minutes following good work by Mel Johnson while at the other end, Natasha Meade hit the visitors' upright. The Foxes were level a minute into the second period when Maz Gauntlett headed home a Rachel Williams cross, but it was Ward again who headed home a Lauren Steadman cross to give Derby victory.
