England girls march into second phase
 Women's Football News 17 Sep 2010
England rounded off a perfect UEFA Under-19 Championships First Round Qualifying campaign in Moldova with a 2-0 victory over Finland.
With both the Young Lions and their Finnish counterparts already guaranteed qualification into the Second Qualifying Round following victories over the hosts and Armenia, the afternoon fixture in Orhei would decide who would finish top of Group One and it was the 2010 runners-up who came out on top.
Everton's Alex Greenwood gave Mo Marley's charges the lead on 27 minutes, following a corner from Chelsea's Drew Spence and they were able to hold on to their advantage going into the half time break.
Just two minutes after the restart, captain Jordan Nobbs doubled England's lead with her fourth goal in three games and made it an uphill struggle for the Finns that they simply could not overcome.
The three qualification performances will please Marley greatly, having witnessed her young players score 15 goals and concede none.
England under-19: Tatiana Saunders (sub Danielle Gibbons 62mins), Kirsty Linnett, Lara Fay, Lauren Bruton, Hannah Short, Drew Spence, Lucy Staniforth, Jordan Nobbs, Danielle Carter (sub Emily Heaslip 67mins), Rebecca Jane (sub Jemma Rose 67mins), Alex Greenwood. Subs not used: Sam Chappell, Jordan Butler, Maegan Doyle, Nikita Parris.
