Wales beaten but still progress
 Women's Football News 17 Sep 2010
Wales were beaten 5-1 by France in their final UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifying group match but still go through to the Second Phase later in the season.
Wales fell behind in the eleventh minute to a goal from Rose Lavaud and the French added further strikes from Manon Pourtalet and Lea La Garrec before the half hour mark.
After the break, substitutes Angelina Doguet and Tatiana Solanet increased France's lead but Wales did not give up and scored a consolation nine minutes from time through Lisa Bird.
Wales therefore finish in second place in their group and can now look forward to the Second Qualifying Round in April.
Wales under-19: Yvette Churchill, Sophie Davies, Jasmin Dutton, Nia Jones, Leanne Jones, Josie Green (sub Hannah Daley 51mins), Rachel Rowe, Sharla Passariello, Emily Brown (sub Lisa Bird 63mins), Hannah Keryakoplis, Megan Wynne. Subs not used: Katy Maddock, Ellis Parsons, Danielle Wilcox, Bethan Woolley, Zoe Atkins.
