Scotland secured a point in their opening match of the UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifiers, but coach Shelley Kerr is left with a selection headache for Monday's match against Slovakia after Nicola Docherty and Lauren McMurchie both saw red.
Olivera Markovic opened the scoring for Serbia in the 11th minute, but Lana Clelland levelled for Scotland before the half hour.
A flurry of yellow cards followed with Serbia's Jovana Damnjanovic, Scotland captain Emma Mitchell and McMurchie all going into the book, before Jelena Cubrilo netted to give Serbia the lead at half-time.
Scotland began to dominate in the second half and Lisa Evans drew Scotland level again on the 64th minute. Five minutes later Mitchell put Scotland into the lead for the first time in the match.
It looked as though Scotland had all three points in the bag, when Serbia won a free kick nine minutes from time and captain Nevena Damjanovic made it 3-3.
Things went downhill for Scotland when Docherty picked up a second yellow two minutes later, and she was followed off the park by McMurchie in the 90th minute.
In the other match, Group 8 hosts Sweden defeated Slovakia 4-0.
Shelley Kerr told www.scottishfa.co.uk: "On the footballing side there were plenty of positives for us. We certainly had enough chances to win the game, and although we didn't get off to a good start, we fought back well and kept going. The performance was very good at times and we looked good going forward.
"But, we were very disappointed to finish the match with nine players. I think we need to show more maturity. When you start to lose discipline at this level this is what happens, and we now have two players suspended for the next match.
"We've got a point on the board, which is a decent start, and we'll now re-group and make sure we're well prepared for Slovakia on Monday."
