Portsmouth's hopes of the runners-up spot in the Southern Division took a huge knock as Cardiff City fought back from two goals down to beat them 3-2.
Pompey looked to be on their way towards an important victory as they raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening twelve minutes, Kirsty McGee and Lisa Langrish both scoring. However, Nicola Harding pulled Cardiff back into the game by netting two minutes before half time and, midway through the second half, Lisa Bird scored twice in a five-minute spell to give the South Wales side the points.
The result means that Portsmouth drop back into third place on goal difference behind Reading FC Women, whose match at Keynsham Town was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Charlton Athletic meanwhile kept up their superb late form with another victory, 2-1 away to Brighton & Hove Albion. Gemma Bryan put the Addicks in front midway through the first half and the lead was doubled seven minutes after the break by Katie Flack. Kim Stenning grabbed a consolation goal for Brighton in the dying minutes.
