Peter Beardsley was on hand to join in training last Thursday as the Newcastle United first team squad prepared for the visit of Curzon Ashton.
The former Toon legend was on hand to pass on his expertise to the players as they put the finishing touches on their preparations for the weekend game. Peter took part in the full training session and after a warm up, he joined in a full scale practice match.
When asked afterwards about his thoughts Peter said that he was really impressed by the tempo and quality that was on show.
Peter, who is the club's president, was something of a lucky omen as after his appearance at training, the team managed to get back on track with a crucial 2-1 win on Sunday.
Newcastle Manager Neil Baistow said: "It was a fantastic gesture by Peter to be in attendance at one of our training sessions, I know that the players were in awe of his ability when he joined in. Peter was a great help to all the players offering constant help and advice. It was not the first time that he has been and I'm sure it won't be the last."
