Eastleigh v Basingstoke Town

Eastleigh v Basingstoke Town - 27 Sep 2009 - Women's Football NewsF.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Eastleigh ran out 5-0 winners over Boscombe Albion to make it through to the First Round Qualifying for the first time and their reward is a home tie with Basingstoke Town.
Basingstoke Town were formed in 1992 to play in the Southern Region League. In 2001, after being close to folding, they joined the Hampshire County Women's League and struggled initially until the arrival of Steve Pike as coach. They won the Division Two title in 2006-07, also winning the Hampshire FA Intermediate Cup, and finished runners-up in Division One in their first season. They finished second again last season but this time were promoted to Division One of the Southern Region League.
Basingstoke Town Ladies are currently the only women's club in the Basingstoke area who are working on achieving the FA's Charter Standard certificate, which we hope to achieve shortly. The Charter Standard Scheme is best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League.
They have started playing this season at the new Winklebury Football Stadium which was recently developed jointly between the Borough Council and Hampshire FA. It is the Headquarters for the Hampshire FA, and mainly used to host local Cup finals and county representative matches.
Steve Pike is Manager/Coach, assisted by Dave Stevens and Joanne Poulter is captain. Tracy Jones and Michelle Kimber have been with the club for nine years whilst the likes of Katie Hempton, Susan Parker, Becky Power, Lindsey Wilson, Katie Randell and Jennifer Stockwell are products of the club's youth teams.
Basingstoke Town have made a great start to the season in their new league, winning four of their five opening games and they currently sit on top of Division One.
