OOH Lincoln have not just knocked on the door of promotion in recent seasons but they have hammered it down.
The Lady Imps have finished as runners-up in the Northern Division for three years in a row and there is just one target in their sights as a new campaign gets underway this weekend.
"Our aim for this season is to finally win the Northern Division title and promotion to the National Division after so many near misses," says chairman Geoff Adams. "The key to this will be not dropping silly points in the first half of the season and then trying to play catch up later on, essentially leaving the initiative in the hands of other teams.
"I strongly believe that Lincoln have been the best team in the league for the previous two seasons, but have given the title away to others through sloppiness early doors. We will also have half an eye on a good run in the FA Women's Cup this time, as I think we have the beating of many of the sides that presently occupy places in the National Division."
Lincoln have assembled a strong squad in the last couple of years and are promising to have as much strength in depth this time around. "We have managed to secure Carla Ward back from Doncaster Rovers Belles, after she decided to leave us towards the beginning of this season," added Adams.
"We are looking at the possibility of bringing one Brazillian youth international over for much of the season and also exploring the possibility of bringing over a couple of Polish internationals to boost depth in our squad, but this is all still in progress and will happen throughout the length of the season.
"Our Slovakian striker Suzy Pramukova, who spent the whole of last season playing for our reserves, seems to have found a new gear and has been outstanding during the pre season. We fully expect her to play a significant part in our first team campaign this season.
"We have lost our assistant First team coach Sam Willett, who is being replaced by our goalkeeping coach Steve Harris. We will also be playing at our new ground at Ashby Avenue in Lincoln this season. It is a grade C ground which belongs to Lincoln United - this is a beautiful ground with excellent facilities and should provide an opportunity for many more of our supporters to come along to watch us at home during this season."
