England girls through to Final
 Women's Football News 23 Jul 2009
England girls through to Final - 23 Jul 2009 - Women's Football NewsEngland are through to the Final of the UEFA Under-19 Championships for the second time in three years following an emphatic 3-0 victory over Switzerland in their semi final in Belarus.
Now only Sweden stand between Mo Marley's side and a first ever European trophy on Saturday and they kept up their record of not having conceded a goal in the tournament so far. England have already beaten Sweden 3-0 in the tournament and they are sure to approach the match in great confidence.
Switzerland made the quicker start with Umea's Ramona Bachmann bringing out a good save from Rebecca Spencer but England got into their stride and Jordan Nobbs' pass released Toni Duggan on goal and the Everton striker made no mistake in giving her side the lead.
Nobbs twice went close to extending the lead, firstly when her lob was kept out by Pascale Kuffer and then having a goal ruled out for offside. However the all-important second goal came on the stroke of half time when a corner found its way to Duggan whose cross was headed in by Isobel Christiansen.
After the break, Bachmann cut in from the right to fire a shot against the post but England hit back immediately for a killer third. Once again the Swiss defence could not contain Duggan, who raced onto a long ball from Chelsea Weston to give Kuffer no chance.
England could have gone further ahead but Jessica Holbrook became the third player to have a goal ruled out for offside.
In the other semi final, Sweden trailed France 2-1 with four minutes remaining but a hat-trick from Sofia Jakobsson spearheaded a stunning fightback to give her side a 5-2 victory after extra time.
