Chelsea kept up their good finish to the season with a
5-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Emma Whitter put the Blues in front midway through the first half and Laura Cooper doubled their advantage before half time. Whitter and Becky Jane then scored in quick succession to put Chelsea four ahead and, despite Catherine Lawson scoring a penalty for Forest, Jane completed her brace with seven minutes remaining.
Doncaster Rovers Belles may well be on course for a fourth placed finish as they climbed above Birmingham City by beating them 3-1. Emma Johnson grabbed the only goal of the first half for the Belles who went two ahead early in the second half through Rachel Williams. Jo Potter gave the Blues hope by halving the deficit but Precious Hamilton wrapped up the win for the Belles against her former club.
Bristol Academy won at home for the first time since September and put on a good performance in their 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers. Welsh international striker Gwennan Harries was in outstanding form as she raced through to lob them in front in the 16th minute and, just before the hour mark, her pinpoint left foot cross was headed home from close range by Connie Short, giving the 17-year-old local girl a goal on her debut. Kerry Bartlett added the third with a superb header from a Justine Lorton centre before Blackburn scored an injury time consolation through Lynda Shepherd.
