Wales held despite Plewa double - 27 Apr 2009 - Women's Football NewsWales battled out a 2-2 draw with Azerbaijan in the second match of their UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifying group in Portugal.
There was good news before the start of the match as Jasmin Dutton was declared fit following her injury against France, allowing manager Andy Beattie to select an unchanged side. However there were further casualties during the match with both Yasmin Leung and Nia Jones going off injured.
In a hard fought match, Emma Plewa kept up her good form by twice giving Wales the lead but they were pegged back on each occasion with equalisers from Yekaterina Nosova and Ana Atayeva.
Wales conclude their group matches on Tuesday afternoon when they take on group hosts Portugal.
Wales: Sophie Dando, Alicia Powe, Nia Jones (sub Mikaela Welford 81mins), Jasmin Dutton, Yasmin Leung (sub Annie Pritchard 44mins), Rachel Cullen, Sophie Ingle, Ellie Davies, Emma Plewa, Emily Brown, Sharla Passiarello. Subs not used: Sara Hilton, Yvette Churchill, Lyndsey Davies, Cori Williams.
