Glasgow City took over at the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League on goal difference after beating previous leaders Celtic 5-1.
The reigning Champions took the lead through a long range strike from Leanne Ross and Jane Ross added the second. Celtic were reduced to ten players when Jennifer Beattie was red carded for deliberate handball but Ruesha Littlejohn shot over from the resulting penalty. However City went three ahead before half time as Megan Sneddon drilled home.
After the break, Suzanne Lappin increased Glasgow's lead as she broke through to score and, although Pauline Hamill gave Celtic hope by pulling a goal back, Jane Ross rounded off the win for City with the fifth goal.
Spartans sit two points behind the leading clubs, with a game in hand, as they put the disappointment of their Unite Scottish Cup semi final defeat to run out 4-0 winners over Forfar Farmington.
Dundee Utd SC have hit form at the right time and any lingering relegation fears are all but over after they won 2-0 away to Boroughmuir Thistle to go fifth.
Hamilton Academicals were the other team beaten in the semi finals of the Cup during the week but they also bounced back well, beating FC Kilmarnock 4-0.
Aberdeen climbed out of the bottom two by scoring five without reply past Raith Rovers, who remain rooted at the foot of the table.
