Sunderland received another setback in their title quest as they crashed 3-1 at home to Leicester City and they must win four of their last five games to overhaul Lincoln. After the first half finished goalless, Natalie Reay gave Leicester the lead and although Natalie Gutteridge headed Sunderland level, the visitors went onto to claim an excellent victory with two further strikes from Natasha Meade.
Manchester City are finishing the season in excellent form and they improved their chances of a top three finish bv beating Curzon Ashton 2-0. Lindsay Savage and Krystle Johnston both netted headers to give City the points but Curzon, who have finished their fixtures, now face a worrying wait to see if they will retain their Premier League status.
Newcastle Utd came from behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 and hold on to fourth place. Kim Farrow had given Villa a 20th minute lead, which they held until midway through the second half when Rachel Furness levelled. With three minutes remaining, Furness scored a superb solo goal to settle matters in Newcastle's favour.
