Spartans are delighted to announce that England under-23 International goalkeeper Marie Hourihan has joined the Club following the fracture injury to their regular goalkeeper Jo Hutcheson.
Marie rejoined Watford this year after a season in the top flight with WFC Fulham where the experience gained strengthened the confident and developed goalkeeper, adding to her already proven abilities. Marie has been called into several England under-19/23 training camps and has since added to those experiences with caps for the Under-23s in the prestigious Nordic and La Manga competitions.
Spartans manger Carson Ralton commented: "We are extremely grateful that Marie has agreed to join Spartans for this important period, with a league title still to play for as well as a Scottish Cup semi final against Rangers on Thursday it was important that we had a talented keeper on the park.
"It is a crucial time for Spartans and it is a huge bonus to have signed Marie from English Premiership side Watford who have been very helpful in allowing us the services of their goalkeeper. Marie has featured in the England under-23 side and comes with great credentials as well as a physical and vocal presence that will help the team on the park.
"I was delighted with her performance against Celtic today and despite only meeting the players just before kick off she fitted in really well. Speaking to Marie after the game she said that she really enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to the games next week."
